MacBook repairs

MacBook won't start, or the screen has died? We'll diagnose it and get your files back.

  • Won't turn on
  • Screen is black
  • It keeps restarting
  • It runs hot

We find out why your MacBook won't start, restarts by itself, runs hot or has gone dark, then fix what's practical. If the screen or the MacBook itself has failed, our first job is getting your photos, documents and messages off it safely, so they're not lost while you decide what to do next.

Common problems

What's your MacBook doing?

  • It won't turn on, or shows a folder with a question mark
  • The screen is black, cracked or flickering, but the MacBook seems to be running
  • It keeps restarting, or freezes on the Apple logo
  • It runs hot, the fan is loud, or it's very slow
  • The battery drains fast or says "service recommended"
  • Your photos and files are stuck on a MacBook that's stopped working

How we fix it

How we handle a MacBook problem

  1. Diagnose before anything else

We find out whether it's the battery, screen, storage, logic board (the main circuit board) or macOS, so you know what you're dealing with.

  2. Rescue your files first

If the screen has failed, we connect an external screen to reach your files. If the MacBook won't start, we try to copy files from its storage. Your photos and documents come first.

  3. Fix what's practical

Software faults, startup problems, and battery or screen replacement where parts are available and it's worth the cost.

  4. Give you a straight answer

If a repair would cost more than the MacBook is worth, we'll tell you, and help you move your files to a new one.

What this service doesn't cover Logic board and liquid damage repairs. If your MacBook needs either, we'll tell you and focus on getting your files back. If it's under Apple warranty or AppleCare, check with Apple first. When files can't be reached in-house, we can arrange recovery through a specialist partner, with the cost confirmed first.

Questions

MacBook repair answered

Can you get my files off a MacBook with a broken screen?+

Often, yes. If the MacBook still runs, we connect it to another screen and copy your files off. If it won't start, we try to recover them from its storage.

My MacBook won't turn on. Is it dead?+

Not always. It can be the charger, the battery or a startup fault rather than a failed MacBook. We test each one before recommending anything.

Do you replace MacBook batteries and screens?+

Where the part is available for your model and the repair is worth the cost, yes. We'll confirm the cost before ordering.

What if my files can't be recovered in-house?+

We can arrange recovery through a specialist partner. Recovery is assessed case by case, and we'll confirm the cost before any work starts.

Are you an Apple repair centre?+

No. We're an independent IT business. If your MacBook is under warranty or AppleCare, check with Apple first.

Perth Computer Experts is an independent IT support provider. We're not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft or Apple. Product names are used only to describe the services we support.
