Password & account security

Too many passwords, or the same one everywhere? We'll set you up so it's easy and safe.

  • You use the same password
  • Passwords are written on paper
  • You keep getting locked out
  • You're not sure which accounts

We set up a password manager (a secure app that remembers your passwords for you), give your important accounts strong, different passwords, and turn on two-step sign-in, where a code on your phone is needed as well as the password. Then we show you how it all works, at your pace.

How we fix it

How we set it up

  1. List the accounts that matter

Email first, then banking, shopping, government and social accounts. Email matters most, because it can reset everything else.

  2. Set up a password manager

On your computer and phone, with one strong main password you can remember.

  3. Give each account its own password

Strong, different passwords saved in the manager, so you don't have to remember them.

  4. Turn on two-step sign-in

On email and the accounts that offer it, using your phone.

  5. Plan for lost phones and emergencies

Backup codes stored safely, and a way for someone you trust to get in if needed.

  6. Show you how to use it

Logging in, saving new passwords and using it on your phone, until it feels easy.

Questions

Password security answered

Is a password manager safe?+

A good password manager stores your passwords encrypted (scrambled), protected by one main password only you know. It's much safer than reusing passwords or writing them down.

What is two-step sign-in?+

After your password, the account asks for a code from your phone. A stolen password alone then isn't enough to get in.

What if I lose my phone?+

We set up backup codes and recovery options, so you can still get into your accounts.

Do I have to remember all the new passwords?+

No. You remember one main password, and the password manager fills in the rest.

How is this charged?+

By technician time at our standard rates, with the scope confirmed before we start. See Pricing.
