Parental controls

Want safer internet for the kids? We'll set up controls that you can manage.

  • Blocking adult and harmful websites
  • Screen-time limits and a Wi-Fi
  • Approving apps and purchases before
  • Separate controls for younger

We set up parental controls at your router, which covers every device on your Wi-Fi, and with the built-in controls on your children's computers, tablets and phones: content filters, screen-time limits and app approvals. For families who want firmer control, we can also manage the kids' devices with Microsoft Intune. Then we show you how to adjust everything yourself.

How we fix it

How we set up parental controls

  1. Talk about your family

The ages of the children, the devices they use, and what you want to allow, limit or block.

  2. Set up controls at the router

Filtering and a Wi-Fi schedule for every device on your home Wi-Fi.

  3. Set up controls on each device

The built-in controls on Windows, Apple and Android devices: content filters, screen time and app approvals.

  4. Add firmer control where you want it

For families who want it, Microsoft Intune (device management, the same tools businesses use) to manage the kids' devices centrally.

  5. Close the common loopholes

Guest accounts, other browsers and changed settings checked, so the controls hold.

  6. Show you how to manage it

Changing limits, approving requests and checking activity, from your own phone.

What this service doesn't cover No controls are perfect, and they work best alongside conversations at home. Mobile data outside your Wi-Fi is covered only by the controls on the device.

Questions

Parental controls answered

What's the difference between router and device controls?+

Router controls cover everything on your home Wi-Fi. Device controls go with the device, including on mobile data and at friends' houses. Using both gives the best coverage.

Can the kids get around parental controls?+

Some try. We close the common loopholes and set controls on both the router and the device, so it's much harder.

What is Microsoft Intune?+

A device management tool businesses use to control computers and phones centrally. For families who want firmer control, it lets you manage settings and apps on the kids' devices from one place.

Can I change the settings myself later?+

Yes. We set it up so you can adjust limits and approve requests from your own phone, and show you how.

How is this charged?+

By technician time at our standard rates, with the scope confirmed before we start. See Pricing.
