We set up and troubleshoot the NBN equipment in your home: the NBN connection box, your modem and your Wi-Fi. We test each part, fix what's in your home, and if the fault is on your provider's side, we tell you plainly and what to ask them.

Common problems

What's your NBN doing?

  • A new NBN connection that needs setting up
  • The modem lights are red, orange or flashing

How we fix it

How we track down an NBN problem

  1. Check the NBN connection box

The box where the NBN line enters your home (sometimes called the NTD). Its lights tell us whether the signal is reaching your home.

  2. Check the modem

Settings, cables, software and the connection to the NBN box. Most home faults are found here.

  3. Test the speed with a cable

A test plugged straight into the modem shows the real speed, without Wi-Fi getting in the way.

  4. Fix what's in your home

Settings, cables, a faulty modem or the Wi-Fi. If a new modem is needed, we confirm the price before ordering.

  5. Tell you plainly if it's your provider

If the fault is outside your home, we explain what we found and exactly what to ask your provider.

What this service doesn't cover We don't contact your provider for you or sell internet plans. Faults on the NBN line outside your home are fixed by your provider.

Questions

NBN answered

Why does my NBN keep dropping out?+

Common causes are a modem fault or setting, a loose cable, a problem with the NBN line, or Wi-Fi issues that look like the internet dropping out. We test each one to find which it is.

Can you contact my internet provider for me?+

No. We don't contact providers on your behalf. If the fault is on their side, we'll explain what we found and what to ask them, so the call is quick.

Why is my NBN slower than my plan?+

It can be the plan's real-world speed, the Wi-Fi, an old modem or a line fault. A cabled speed test shows which.

Can you set up a new NBN connection?+

Yes. Once your provider has activated the service, we connect and set up the modem and Wi-Fi, and get your devices online.

How is this charged?+

By technician time at our standard rates, plus any equipment you approve. See Pricing.
